You can tailor your organisation's Investors in People journey to your organisation's unique business needs.
You can work with The Standard - the foundation of good management practice - or go broader and deeper and choose areas from the full framework to focus on. The whole framework is based on a 'plan, do and review' model:

  • plan - developing strategies to improve an organisation's performance, from business goals to leadership strategies
  • do - implementing those strategies, taking action to improve the performance of the organisation
  • review - evaluating and adjusting those strategies through measuring their impact on the performance of the organisation.

Investors in People is suitable for any size of organisation in any sector. The framework isn't focused solely on staff training. To achieve Investors in People, you need to think through your business strategy and ensure that your training plans will drive it forward.

The framework is outcome-based. This means it tells you what you need to achieve to meet your organisation's goals, but doesn't prescribe how you achieve them.
